Unless you’re buying a gift for someone who’s on a diet or just can’t eat candy for some reason, candy is usually well-received. But to turn your gift into an extra sweet treat, consider presenting the candy in a custom made gift basket.
The first thing to consider is what to use as padding in the bottom of the basket. This will be used to hold the rest of the candy in the gift basket. Many gift baskets simply have a soft material, such as shredded paper or even tissue paper lying in the bottom, but for a candy gift basket one suggestion to use would be to fill the bottom with small candy pieces such as M&M or Skittles. If you want to use them simply for decorative purposes, then feel free to dump them out of their wrappers. But to make them part of your gift, use the small snack size packages for your padding.
Now it’s time to focus on the heart of the gift basket that you’re making. The best thing to do is give yourself a set budget, and then take a trip to the candy store. There are sure to be plenty of options to chose from. There are little candy bars that can be thrown in. Gum-balls, mints, gummy worms, and other gummy candies are also sure to be favorites. Just remember, get enough items to fill the basket to the brim if you want to make it right! To finish the basket off, chose a few large pieces of candy such as king size candy bars or packs of licorice sticks to fit neatly on the top.
Once you finish filling the basket, you will probably want to shrink wrap it so that none of the candy falls out. Then wrap the basket with ribbon and finish with a nice bow for presentation.
