December 5th is Repeal Day commemorating Utah’s ratification of the 21st Amendment which formally repealed the 18th Amendment
The 18th Amendment prohibited the manufacture, transportation, sale and consumption of alcohol in order to cure social ills. When crime actually increased due to racketeering, the popularity of the 18th Amendment waned and more and more people and groups sought it’s repeal.
